CASE HISTORY

Chronic Fugitive Dust and Surface Maintenance Problems Solved at an Intermodal Facility Until recently, an intermodal yard was plagued by chronic wind blown dust, the result of the daily cycling of yard tractors, forklifts and container handling equipment on a surface which would shift, break up and sink. |
|
Using good construction practice, the yard surface was scarified and graded. Then Soil-Sement® concentrate was mixed with water and applied with penetration depth of 2-4 inches. Immediately following this grading and spraying procedure, the area was rolled for best compaction and surface density. The final step was an application of Soil-Sement® to chemically bond and seal the surface. As part of the program, Midwest Industrial Supply, Inc. schedules additional Maintenance Applications as necessary. Soil-Sement® increased the design elasticity of the surface and prevented permanent deformation while controlling dust.
