Lubrication of track switches can bring up several issues in the railroad and mass transit industries. Finding a lubricant that makes switches easier to throw, reduces torque, prevents sticking, lasts longer and doesn’t wash away is not an easy task. Midwest took all these factors into consideration when formulating our line of lubricants.

Glidex®
Glidex® track switch agent is a synthetic fluid that effectively lubricates track switch components. Since it is non-water soluble, it resists being washed off by rain. This product typically lasts twice as long as other lubricants such as petroleum greases and graphite. It is easily applied by pouring, spraying or brushing. Since Glidex® is a synthetic fluid, it is bio-degradable although it is not an agricultural base that tends to draw rodents or other wildlife onto track switches. A major feature of Glidex® is that it doesn't harden or pack up between the switch points and plates nor does it collect sand, dust or dirt. Glidex® is economical to use and depending on switch usage may be reapplied from two to six weeks.

Glidex HV® track switch agent has the same components of Glidex® except it’s a much higher viscosity and is poured or brushed onto the rail surfaces. It is designed for extremely wet locations where water lays (imbedded street switches) or where irrigation is common (water spray suppression).

Gravity Plus®
Gravity Plus® is an organic-based synthetic anti-sticking agent that is applied to hopper cars to prevent and eliminate raw materials from sticking to the railcar skin. Bottom dumps or rotary dump cars treated with Gravity Plus® enables 100% unloading to eliminate demurrage and haul back.It is sprayable and automatic spray systems can be custom designed to your specific needs. Gravity Plus® is recommended to be used on materials with high moisture content or during seasonal periods with high precipitation.
