Fugitive Dust Problems Solved
at a Utility Company’s Ashpond!

A utility company with a six acre fly ash lagoon was experiencing fugitive dust problems. The lagoon is located a 1/4 mile from its industrial neighbors and a 1/2 mile from residential houses and as a result, there were occasional complaints. Winter freezing caused the ashpond surface to freeze dry which created a fugitive dust source. Dust was also a problem during summer months when the water in the pond evaporated or as water was drained off.

Midwest Industrial Supply, Inc. implemented a Soil-Sement® Dust Control Program which solved these fugitive dust problems. Soil-Sement® has the unique ability to eliminate dust and airborne particles because it chemically bonds and seals the surface to prevent wind from lifting fines and creating dust. Depending on the site objectives, applications can be tailored to be effective for several months to one year or longer.

Midwest Industrial Supply, Inc. can provide installation of Control Programs based on the unique requirements of each specific project. Our field technical service personnel are available for consultation and recommendations to determine the program best suited for each project’s requirements. Midwest Industrial Supply, Inc. can also provide a complete recordkeeping and reporting system as part of its service.
